Love my Grand!
Hutch 1 Month Old
Pop and Granny
my parents came to visit Tess last weekend before her surgery. She was so excited to see them! They took us to Larry's pizza to eat- we love Larry's- a great kid friendly place.

My dad had Hutch smiling, but of course my camera is too slow. I will get a pic of that smile sooner or later.
Hutch sleeping at Larry's. Only about 10 more months till you can have pizza lil' fella!
Tess telling Granny and Pop "bye". She started to cry not too long after this picture was taken. She told me "I want to ride the motercycle." and "I miss them." so sad...

Surgery
Thanks everybody for the calls and emails. Most of all, we really appreciate all of the prayers! Tess went in for her surgery at around 11am on Monday. Dr. Bower said she wins the award this month for the largest tonsils. He said they were HUGE and that her adenoids were blocking 80-90% of her nasal airway. He said we should see a night and day difference in her. She is kinda pitiful at this point...lying around, not talking, crying at times. :-( Last night was a very ruff night in the hospital...between Tess vomiting and the kid next to us who screamed all night there was little sleep to be had (I should be getting used to that, right?). The staff at Arkansas Children's Hospital were top notch as always....really makes me proud to work there. We had wonderful nursing staff and the ENT residents were kind and informative. We got to go home today and now we just have to really encourage her to drink fluids- she had to drink 4.5 oz before they would let us leave the hospital. Jay and I took her to the fountain outside in a wagon and I bribed her with pennies to throw in the fountain for every sip she took of her drink; before I knew it she had drank it all. I have to admit, after working at ACH and dealing with difficult children....I am the queen of bribery. :-)

Hutch's Newborn Pics
3 year old pics

We have a new photographer this year. He is just starting out and he takes great pics. He takes the pictures aHe captured her personality just perfectly. Here are a few of her pics we took this weekend at our local park. I will post more when he gets them edited. He takes the pictures and then gives them to you on a disk. You have to print them out- but it is still a great deal.

Father's Day
happy father's day, Jay! Tess gave her daddy some new socks a running shirt. Hutch gave his daddy a handprint plaque. Thanks Jay for being such a sweet and loving father. As your children grow, they will see that their daddy puts God first in his life and the importance of a strong yet humble character. We love you!

Hutch is 2 weeks old
Yesterday, Hutch turned 2 weeks old. He has been such a blessing to us! He is sleeping really well- a HUGE answer to prayer. He is waking up around 2:30 for a bottle and then not again till 6am. He takes his last bottle at 10pm before we go to bed and then he sleeps till the next one. He is such a sweet lil fella. :-)He takes lots of sugar and hugs from Tess on a hourly and sometimes minute by minute basis. We took him for a weight check this morning and he weighed in at 7lbs and 7 ozs. This is a good increase from last Friday when he was 6lbs and 13oz. Good job Hutch! His cord fell off 2days ago- here is a picture of his first real bath. He loved it!
I have been calling him "Hutch Dutch Boy!" I know...I need a better nickname- I just can't think of one. Jay calls him "lil buddy" Tess was easy we called/call her "Tesser" "Tessie" "Stinker Binker" and sometimes I just called her "Bink" :-) I wish I would have started this blog when she was a baby. I would love to be looking back and seeing what we were thinking when she was 2 weeks old. Makes me tear up thinking about it......
Community Fest
This past Sunday we had Community Fest at our church. It was so much fun! Tess won some cookies on her first try at the cookie walk. They called her number and she just froze. It was so funny and cute! She and her daddy had a fun time on one of the bounce houses outside and she had a snow cone to cool her off after riding the horse. One of our sweet Bible study teachers, Debbie took Tess to get a snow cone- Tess just loves her! Tess has a strong love of animals- we may have to break down and get a pet. The goldfish thing didn't work out last time so were are thinking a more durable pet.....like a frog?? j/k.
Lots of things going on...
Well, to add to all of the changes that have been taking place in the Finton house, Tess is going to have to have surgery on the 23rd of this month at ACH. She suffers from obstructive sleep apnea secondary to adenotonsillar hypertrophy. You can see from this video how much she struggles to breathe. (you may want to silence the music on the playlist so you can hear the video) She wakes herself up all during the night- one night last week we put her back to bed 8 times. It has been a constant worry and prayer request for Jay and I over the past year. We finally got a 2nd opinon by the best pediatric ENT doctor in Arkansas, Dr. Charles Bower. Please pray for skillful surgical hands for the Dr. and guidance for all the staff that take care of her. We should only have to stay in the hospital one night.

Wreaths can be expensive....
When my mom was here we took an outing to Micheal's to buy some flowers to make her a wreath (Hutch slept pretty much the entire trip). The flowers were 50%-60% off and the total cost to make this wreath was $90. I am not sure how much it would cost if you went out and brought it, but I am sure over $200 (considering we got everything 1/2 off). It has a lot of flowers on it and it is very big! Anyway, here is a picture of it. Hope you like it. I really appreciate my mom staying with me last week and making her a wreath was the least I could do. Thanks mom!

Hutch and Tess
My very favorite little girl...pretending she is a baby! How fast they grow up. Seems like only yesterday she was in this carrier (baby Tess pictured at 8 weeks old). bitter sweet....
Hutch had his first doctor's appointment yesterday (a few days before his regular newborn appointment). He weighed 6lbs 13 oz.- almost back to birth weight. We took him in because we were concerned about these spots (looks like bug bites) all over him. We do not have any pets, but they looked like flea bites. They were all over his body except for his face and bottom. Well, to make a long story short he has what you call Erythema Toxicum. Basically a common newborn rash. I was worried...of course after working at Children's Hospital and seeing the worst of the worse and the rarest of all things your mind will lead you there. Thank you Jesus, for a healthy report!
A few simple things I am thankful for......
1. 4 hour stretches of sleep.
2. Changing a pee diaper.....Hutch has a poo just about every time I change him. Love that boy and his poo too!
3. A Good burp from Hutch!! Sucess!
4. When Tess sings to "baby brodther." I will try and get a video of this...really cute.
5. The Hispanic construction worker who whistled at me today...despite my post prego belly hanging over my huge abdominal binder (thanks Tenille for the tip!) (that was being worn on the outside of my shirt). LOL I looked at him and said "Oh PLEASE..." He whistled again.......desperation. I took it as a compliment- doesn't take much to make me feel good. :-) Ha ! Ha!
6. Other people's blogs....a big source of entertainment for me. "People, please keep them up to date with lots of new pics and posts..."I am totally bummed when I click on the blog for the 3rd or 4th time that day and it is the same ole' post!" j/k (not really.....I know people have a life and don' have time to blog all the time. whatever...) On that note, only one more week till I can drive!! woo hoo!
P.S. Ever had "after birth pains"....they are a killer! UGH! my mom and my friend Allie tried to worn me about them. ouch!

Something Special
While I was in the hospital, Jay's mom brought me this flower arrangement. The ceremic boy vase that the flowers are in was given to her by her mother when Jay was born. She has kept it all these years. One day, I can give it to Hutch's wife when she has a baby. I love sentimenal gifts. Thanks so much, Mrs. Finton.
Very Sweet.....

More Pics of Hutch
We came home from the hospital yesterday and experienced out first night with Hutch. He did better than we expected. We were prepared to be up all night with little sleep. However, our pregnancy prayers worked. He slept from 10 pm till 2am, took a bottle and then slept till 6am took another bottle and slept some more. I know...this was just our first night and I know how fast things can change, but we were pleasantly surprised. "GO Hutch, GO!" I have lots of pictures I want to share and I will be working on posting some slide shows (those things take FOREVER to load), so check back for more pics! Thanks to everyone for their prayers, love and support during this exciting time for us. Here are a few of my favorite pictures....so far....
Hutch's 1st bath. I just love his little lil' booty in this picture. All those wrinkles....too cute.
My 2 favorite boys!
