Community Fest

This past Sunday we had Community Fest at our church. It was so much fun! Tess won some cookies on her first try at the cookie walk. They called her number and she just froze. It was so funny and cute! She and her daddy had a fun time on one of the bounce houses outside and she had a snow cone to cool her off after riding the horse. One of our sweet Bible study teachers, Debbie took Tess to get a snow cone- Tess just loves her! Tess has a strong love of animals- we may have to break down and get a pet. The goldfish thing didn't work out last time so were are thinking a more durable pet.....like a frog?? j/k.

Lots of things going on...

Well, to add to all of the changes that have been taking place in the Finton house, Tess is going to have to have surgery on the 23rd of this month at ACH. She suffers from obstructive sleep apnea secondary to adenotonsillar hypertrophy. You can see from this video how much she struggles to breathe. (you may want to silence the music on the playlist so you can hear the video) She wakes herself up all during the night- one night last week we put her back to bed 8 times. It has been a constant worry and prayer request for Jay and I over the past year. We finally got a 2nd opinon by the best pediatric ENT doctor in Arkansas, Dr. Charles Bower. Please pray for skillful surgical hands for the Dr. and guidance for all the staff that take care of her. We should only have to stay in the hospital one night.

Wreaths can be expensive....

When my mom was here we took an outing to Micheal's to buy some flowers to make her a wreath (Hutch slept pretty much the entire trip). The flowers were 50%-60% off and the total cost to make this wreath was $90. I am not sure how much it would cost if you went out and brought it, but I am sure over $200 (considering we got everything 1/2 off). It has a lot of flowers on it and it is very big! Anyway, here is a picture of it. Hope you like it. I really appreciate my mom staying with me last week and making her a wreath was the least I could do. Thanks mom!

Hutch and Tess

My sweet baby boy! I am so thankful for him.
Going to see our favorite Doc, Dr. Sanders
My very favorite little girl...pretending she is a baby! How fast they grow up. Seems like only yesterday she was in this carrier (baby Tess pictured at 8 weeks old). bitter sweet....

Hutch had his first doctor's appointment yesterday (a few days before his regular newborn appointment). He weighed 6lbs 13 oz.- almost back to birth weight. We took him in because we were concerned about these spots (looks like bug bites) all over him. We do not have any pets, but they looked like flea bites. They were all over his body except for his face and bottom. Well, to make a long story short he has what you call Erythema Toxicum. Basically a common newborn rash. I was worried...of course after working at Children's Hospital and seeing the worst of the worse and the rarest of all things your mind will lead you there. Thank you Jesus, for a healthy report!

A few simple things I am thankful for......

1. 4 hour stretches of sleep.

2. Changing a pee diaper.....Hutch has a poo just about every time I change him. Love that boy and his poo too!

3. A Good burp from Hutch!! Sucess!

4. When Tess sings to "baby brodther." I will try and get a video of this...really cute.

5. The Hispanic construction worker who whistled at me today...despite my post prego belly hanging over my huge abdominal binder (thanks Tenille for the tip!) (that was being worn on the outside of my shirt). LOL I looked at him and said "Oh PLEASE..." He whistled again.......desperation. I took it as a compliment- doesn't take much to make me feel good. :-) Ha ! Ha!

6. Other people's blogs....a big source of entertainment for me. "People, please keep them up to date with lots of new pics and posts..."I am totally bummed when I click on the blog for the 3rd or 4th time that day and it is the same ole' post!" j/k (not really.....I know people have a life and don' have time to blog all the time. whatever...) On that note, only one more week till I can drive!! woo hoo!
P.S. Ever had "after birth pains"....they are a killer! UGH! my mom and my friend Allie tried to worn me about them. ouch!

Something Special

While I was in the hospital, Jay's mom brought me this flower arrangement. The ceremic boy vase that the flowers are in was given to her by her mother when Jay was born. She has kept it all these years. One day, I can give it to Hutch's wife when she has a baby. I love sentimenal gifts. Thanks so much, Mrs. Finton.
Very Sweet.....

Hutch Meets......

More Pics of Hutch

We came home from the hospital yesterday and experienced out first night with Hutch. He did better than we expected. We were prepared to be up all night with little sleep. However, our pregnancy prayers worked. He slept from 10 pm till 2am, took a bottle and then slept till 6am took another bottle and slept some more. I know...this was just our first night and I know how fast things can change, but we were pleasantly surprised. "GO Hutch, GO!" I have lots of pictures I want to share and I will be working on posting some slide shows (those things take FOREVER to load), so check back for more pics! Thanks to everyone for their prayers, love and support during this exciting time for us. Here are a few of my favorite pictures....so far....
Hutch's 1st bath. I just love his little lil' booty in this picture. All those wrinkles....too cute.
My 2 favorite boys!

Big Sis Party

On Thursday Grand brought up some "big sister" cupcakes to the hospital for our "Big Sister Party" that we had for Tess. Mainly we just ate cupcakes and doted on Tess being a "Big Sister!" Tess had fun and I think it made the transition just a little easier for her. She really does love her baby brother!

He's Here...meet Hutch!

Hutch was born May 28, 2008 at 12:08 pm. He weighed 6lbs 15 oz and was 19 inches long. He has a head full of dark brown hair! Tess has been so smitten with him. She says things like "I wuv him." "Mommy, did he come out of your tummy?" She is so cute with him. She is going to be a lot of help when we get home.....or too much help. My c-section went well, just recovering at this point. Hope all of my faithful blog readers get to meet him.....he can't wait to meet you.

Pro Bike Riding

Tess has gotten really good at riding her bike. So good I can't keep up with her anymore. She is so much fun! She loves to sing and ride her bike at the same time. She loves to ride to the bridge which is about 1/2 mile down from our house. We make a big loop around the walking trail and she is usually exhausted before we get home.

P.S. You might want to "pause" the blog music at the bottom of the page so you can hear Tess singing.

Baby Boy Finton has a name!!!! (not here yet!)

We will call him "Hutch." "We had a really hard time deciding on a name. This is it. Hope you like it!
p.s. Pierce is Jay's middle name. We just liked Hutchison.

Just Being Tess......

Airplanes and Donuts

Today, we went to our local park with our mommy and me group to watch the model airplanes fly on the lake and eat donuts. We are spending as much time together these last few days of just "me and Tess." Only 7 more days till new baby is here! Hope it comes earlier than planned (I am 38 weeks now). Wishful thinking......

Tess's Artwork

Here are Tess's finished pics for baby brother's room. Tess needed a little help gluing on the beads and writing the words on the canvas :-) Other than that she is the abstract queen...maybe my future business partner. She is very proud of them...she says "that my picture?" "For baby brothder?" She has had fun helping me decorate his nursery. Only 2 more weeks!
P.S. Did I let everyone know that I am not one of those pregnant women who are perky and fine till the very end? I AM MISERABLE!!!! Plus I have a sinus cold! I can't breathe x2!

Trolley Ride!

We rode the downtown Trolley for the first time last Friday. Tess had a blast! After the ride, we ate lunch at the River Market with our Mommy and Me group. It was a great day!

Family Fest 2008

I am a little behind on blogging our activities. Last weekend we went to our local Family Fest. Tess had so much fun! She is quite the roller coaster queen. She wanted to sit in the very front and she giggled the entire ride. It was really cute! She also liked playing the drums, even Jay got in on some drumming action!
